PRP

Doctors are skeptical; they do not believe in what is unscientific. The most important reason we practice PRP is the existence of scientific articles demonstrating its scientifically proven effects.

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. It is a medical procedure and should only be performed by medical doctors. Knowing the anatomical structure and performing injections in a way that does not injure the nerve and blood vessel (artery-vein) bundles is something only a doctor can do.

In the event of a bodily injury or cut, platelets are the first to rush to that area. The primary function of platelets is to stop bleeding and induce clotting. Their next most important function is to ensure wound healing and new tissue formation. Once the scab on the wound falls off, the healing tissue becomes visible.

How is PRP Applied?

  • The patient’s own blood (only 10 cc) is drawn into a special tube. It undergoes a high-speed centrifugation process. The platelets are separated, and a layer with a density of 1.5 million platelets per milliliter is obtained. This is called PRP.

What are the Functions of Platelets?

  • They include clotting, tissue damage recovery, wound healing, and the secretion of growth factors. Capitalizing on these effects, we deliver PRP under the skin with the help of fine needles using the mesotherapy method. Since we apply a numbing cream before the procedure, no significant pain is felt. The PRP procedure is applied to the face, neck, hair, hands, and other requested areas. A more youthful appearance is achieved with the help of growth factors that reverse tissue damage and the effects of aging.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

  • It is not a stem cell therapy, but it works on stem cells indirectly. With the help of PRP injected into the skin, the growth factors inside the platelets signal the skin cells to “produce fibroblasts.” Fibroblasts, in turn, produce collagen and elastin, which provide the skin with elasticity and vitality.

Does PRP Have Side Effects?

  • It is extremely safe. This is because the person’s own blood is taken from the patient and returned to the same patient in a concentrated form. Disposable syringes and tubes are used. When performed by a doctor, the possibility of side effects is virtually non-existent.

What Are the Visible Effects of PRP?

  • The skin looks brighter and more vibrant; especially sun spots and age spots on the face are reduced. There is a reduction in under-eye bags and dark circles. Fine lines soften. The questions people will ask you will be like, “You look very young, what did you do to your face?” or “Did you have plastic surgery?”
  • In reality, by giving back what is already yours in a more powerful form, we activate the skin’s defense mechanism and create a high-quality skin tissue.
  • The best part is that the effects are also visible around the application area; for example, the effect of PRP applied to your forehead can also be seen in your hair.
  • When applied to the scalp, it has been shown to significantly stop hair loss. By nourishing the hair follicles at the roots, it promotes new hair growth in areas where follicles are still present. It is just as effective on hair as it is on the face.

What is PRP?

The patient’s own blood is drawn and separated by spinning it at high speeds in a device. The remaining platelet-rich upper portion is injected into the area of the patient that requires treatment. Since this procedure is performed using the person’s own blood, no side effects are expected. It is used for skin blemishes, hair loss, sunburns, wrinkles, scars, acne marks, loss of joint fluid, and the décolletage area.

PRP begins to show results for skin blemishes immediately. A clear difference appears within approximately 7 days, and effects such as skin brightening, revitalization, and tightening are observed.

Where is PRP Used?

  • It has been shown to be effective in facial rejuvenation, crow’s feet around the eyes, age spots, sun spots, non-healing wound treatment (diabetes), burn wounds, surgical scars, acne scars, treatment of stretch marks, prevention of hair loss, osteoarthritis, joint disorders, and fibrositis (muscle knot) pain.

Where is It Not Used?

  • It is not used during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or in cases of cancer, blood diseases, and long-standing hypertrophic scars known as keloids.

How Many Sessions are Required to Get Results?

  • It is performed in 3–4 sessions, with 7–15 days between each session. This can vary depending on the individual’s condition. While it takes a bit longer for postmenopausal individuals or those exposed to smoking, alcohol, and sunlight, 3 sessions are generally sufficient for individuals who eat healthy, take good care of themselves, and protect themselves from UV light. For the continuation of skin vitality and a long-lasting effect, a repetition every 6 months is recommended.

Hair PRP

The primary goal is to strengthen the hair, bring out the dormant hair roots, and reduce hair thinning. It does not yield results in cases of complete baldness. A more effective outcome can be achieved by combining it with hair mesotherapy. Washing the treated area after the procedure is not recommended. Massaging should be avoided, and the hair should not be dyed. It is applied in 3 or 4 sessions at 15-day intervals. A maintenance session is applied again after 6 months. These proteins are injected under the patient’s scalp after numbing the area with local anesthesia.

Facial PRP

The PRP system, which is used for wrinkles, sagging, and dullness occurring on the skin due to various reasons, increases its effectiveness even further when combined with mesolifting at advanced ages. Apart from this, if a person wishes to prevent early sagging of their skin, it can be performed at an early age as a precautionary measure. After applying 3 or 4 sessions at 15-day intervals, a booster dose can be administered 6 months later for maintenance therapy to prevent the skin from sagging again.

Intra-Articular PRP (Joint PRP)

PRP is injected into the joint spaces for conditions such as aging, meniscus tears, ligament tears, calcification (osteoarthritis), rheumatism, and decreased joint fluid. It is more effective for joint pain when performed together with knee mesotherapy. It is applied in 4 sessions at 15-day intervals. At the end of the sessions, the patient can move their joints more comfortably. Their pain regresses to a minimum level.

Conclusion

  • The goal is to trigger repair and rejuvenation in the skin through the controlled damage induced by PRP. By simulating a mild injury on the skin, a pseudo-trauma is created, stimulating the skin and activating the wound healing mechanism. In this way, production begins as if mimicking wound healing; collagen and elastic fibers are produced, skin elasticity increases, and tissue blood supply improves. Within a short period, skin tone brightens.
  • If the skin is not stimulated, it ages. In fact, what we do is stimulate the skin using the right methods and targeting the correct spots. Thanks to this, the effects formed on a person’s skin due to the impact of aging can be reversed.

Frequently Asked Questions About PRP
